The Sound Channel, together with the support of Ableton, is the proud sponsor of ALUGS- Ableton Live User Group Singapore.
Since its humble beginings in 2001, Live has proven to be much more than a conventional DAW, often being termed as a sequencing instrument. Never before in history has a software program created such an impact to music making ability. Live indeed has become the sequencer of choice to millions of musicians and artists, notwithstanding the level of expertise, genre or platform.
ALUGS is basically a networking forum for Live users in Singapore. Against the backdrop of Live's largely open ended and accessible interface, novices and advanced users alike share tips on how to arrange clips, compose using Live, advice on hardware controllers, discuss power tricks and new ways of keeping performances musically dynamic. The intent or objective (not limited to) is to:
1. Exchange ideas, knowledge, practices, set ups- everyone uses live in a different way: as a scratch pad, DJing, conventional DAW set up, trigger VJ programs, rewire to other DAWs, as a sampler, program beats e.t.c There is no secret recipe, you ask the same question but get diferent answers. This is the strength of Live.
2. Bring Live users 'outside' of their studios and strive to push the envelope technologically. Prove that a piece of computer software can be a musical instrument in its own right!
3. Live use- Discuss using 'Live' Live
4. Organize musical sessions, remix contests, live shows, parties and more...
ALUGS is a voluntary initiative, born only by passion for music. ALUGS is the bridge between the artist and his art.....
To join ALUGS all you need to do is send us an email with your contact details. While it is preferable that you own a copy of Live, it is not mandatory.
Notification regarding ALUGS meets will be posted here, at ableton.com/news and at myspace.com/alugs.
